"Cherry Red Boots / Somebody's Tryin' To Hoodoo Me" - The Nude Party (singles review)

For those who twirl around the kitchen, drive with the wind in their hair, and rock those orange bell bottom jeans: we’ve got a young band that’ll have you singing til your voice gives out! It’s the best kind of music: six piece group “The Nude Party” was formed in 2012, although the classic groove of sixties rock resonates from their amps. With timeless inspirations such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, it’s no doubt The Nude Party is, has, and will continue to play their own masterful part in the revival of rock. With their newest album on its way, they’ve released two spectacular singles; each of which is a true testament to the rock ‘n roll that generations of the world adore. Without further ado, let’s escape this world and step into one titled “Cherry Red Boots”.

Ah, where to start?! From the mellow vocals, to the groovy guitar riffs, to the seductive bassline, The Nude Party has made an unskippable, un-undanceable, hypnotizing piece. With lyrics simply telling of a beautiful young woman who wears stylish, knee-high, cherry red boots that drive everyone around her crazy; it’ll have you hook, line and sinker within the first notes. It’s the classic Sunday afternoon drive, with the warm sun and smell of summer hanging in the trees. It’s the turntable next to a pink velvet chair. It’s the red lipstick kiss on a mirror. The Nude Party has truly knit together the song our grandchildren will get ready for a date to. Classic, ageless music of the times; this is the jackpot!

And to add to that jackpot, is the next tune called “Somebody Tryin' To Hoodoo Me”. Lead singer of the group Patton Maggee states, “I found this song on a collection of unreleased Dr. Jon recordings called the ‘Crazy Cajun Tapes’”. With their own personality and charm, The Nude Party delivers a spectacular cover of the song. Besides lyrics themselves, the combination of smooth guitar, pounding bass, notes of piano to enhance and those resounding vocals create quite the story. And with lyrics, the story completes itself. Thought to be the tale of a romance turned sour, we catch on that someone is out for revenge. And what better than to simply place a doggone hex on the victim? That’s hoodoo alright.

I believe these two songs set the perfect tone for this upcoming album. It’s sexy, it’s charismatic, it’s human nature to love this mellow gold. I say get your orange bell bottoms on. Click here to listen!
