Babe Corner are a Canadian all-girls rock group from Vancouver, British Columbia. This Friday, they released a new single titled “They Don’t Love You (Like I Do)” featuring a visually appealing music video to go along with it.
Babe Corner are a relatively new group, but they’ve already started to receive some recognition for their psychedelic, hazy vintage indie feel. Having released a handful of singles and an EP, Babe Corner recently came out with ”They Don’t Love You”. Originally a four-piece consisting of Haley Blais, Alli Deleo, Jess Jones, and Lindsay Sjoberg, the newest Babe Corner release features a new member, Lilli.
The single is very soothing to listen to. It has a mellow sound to it, and combined with mesmerizing vocal harmonies, it feels like a comforting hug. Towards the beginning, ”They Don’t Love You“ is rather dreamy and psychedelic, before taking on a more upbeat tone, while still containing those mesmerizing vocals. ”They Don’t Love You” is simple, both in lyrics and sound, but it’s a lovely, sweet song that’ll keep you in a good mood throughout all 4 minutes.
The music video (Directed and filmed by Lester Lyons-Hookham, @lesterlh on Instagram) has a cinematic quality to it, and just like the song, it’s mellow and simple; this cinematic quality seems to be a feature unique to the band, and their music follows a familiar vintage sound accompanied by very beautifully executed visuals. Cinematic music videos are especially enjoyable; they can tell stories or just simply keep you entertained throughout while simultaneously enjoying the music.
Further new releases by Babe Corner (and hopefully an album!) shall be greatly anticipated. For those who are into indie music, perhaps with retro (specifically 60’s/70’s) influences, Babe Corner is a great recommendation! Great music videos to accompany equally great songs make for an equally great band!
You can listen to ”They Don’t Love You (Like I Do)” on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms. The music video is available above for viewing.
