Asheville’s own psychedelic indie rock band, The Get Right Band, recently released their first single, “Hell Yes Refresh” off of their upcoming album, iTopia, set to be released in early April. Along with the brand new song, came a unique music video that paints the story of the album.
This upbeat, groovy song was a great decision to be the first single off the album. The sound of “Hell Yes Refresh” is similar to several songs of the new album. It reminds me of the 80s with the classic synthesizer sound mixed with the drums. It’s a little different from some of their older music, but still has that classic Get Right Band sound.
As for the music video, it definitely lives up to the psychedelic name; with the colors, the robotic characters, and animation, it gives off almost a Pink Floyd feel. What I love most about the music video is that it’s a sneak peak into the album. There are bits and pieces in the video that might not make much sense now, but once you listen to the album, it ties it all together. If you know anything about the band, you know everything they put out is art. It’s all very well thought out and perfectly executed. This new song and music is just exactly that.
Their new album, iTopia, is set to be released on April 7th. There will be an album release show that day at the Salvage Station here in Asheville. Make sure to keep an eye out for new releases as well as shows leading up to the April release.
