Charlotte, North Carolina based, self-produced musician John Maddrey’s latest single, “Gone With You” released on all streaming platforms on February 14th. The track is only Maddrey’s fourth release, though Maddrey produces and engineers for other artists in the Charlotte area, and is also a member of Flamígos, which also released their debut EP, Flamingo, today.
Maddrey’s songs all feature “heavy lyricism and smooth, catchy melodies,” and “Gone With You” is no different in that respect (source).
“Gone With You” is the perfect Valentine’s Day release; a love song with vulnerable lyrics that manage to maintain the upbeat nature of the song,
“Many times I've been lost in the blue, I was looking for you and I didn’t even know it.”
The song features lively horns, and what Maddrey refers to as "the blue riff" (source). Maddrey's vocals are smooth and warm; simply euphonious. Each element of the song is easy on the ear and leaves you wanting more.
Maddrey is certainly one to watch, you can listen to “Gone With You” on all streaming platforms, and keep up with John Maddrey on Instagram @johnmaddrey
