Charlotte, North Carolina based indie-rock band Modern Alibi’s debut single, “Seventies” released across all streaming platforms on February 24th. Modern Alibi consists of founding member, vocalist, and rhythm guitarist, Holden Scott, Sloane Letourneau on lead guitar, bassist, Josh King, and drummer, Christian Sturt. Modern Alibi have already established themselves as a well loved modern-rock band in the Charlotte music scene, selling out shows at venues such as The Neighborhood Theatre and the Evening Muse, where “Seventies” has already become a fan-favorite among their growing fan base.
“Seventies” is a high energy, dynamic song that couldn’t be more perfect for the band's debut release. With a strong bassline and Scott’s bold, sultry vocals, “Seventies” gives the listener something to write home about. Letourneau's riffs and guitar effects really add an alternative, grungy feel to an upbeat rhythm; and a rebellious romantic vibe to the song overall.
“Seventies” is an adrenaline filled rock song that takes the listener through the feelings of being suddenly and shockingly love-stricken. As for the lyricism, the song is filled with analogies, comparing a quickly moving relationship to a “Maserati or Ferrari from the seventies,” and the line, “she feels like a shot of nicotine” describing the buzzing high of quickly catching feelings.
With a sound reminiscent of the Arctic Monkeys and the Killers, yet still maintaining a unique, one-of-a-kind sound, Modern Alibi is sure to be loved by alternative-rock fans. “Seventies” is available for streaming on all platforms, and you can catch Modern Alibi tomorrow, February 25th, at Amos’ Southend in Charlotte, performing alongside Anything Goes and the L.A.
